Steven (who is writing a Meskin biography) complained he couldn't comment on this story, but I sem to have no problem. Could everyone who can't comment leave a comment? Eh... let me rephrase that.
Anyway, Steven commented that Mort Mesnkin seems to have adapted his style to a percieved house style whenever possible. I think he just was such a versatile but insecure artist, that he needed the security of a visual code to do the work. If one was not provided he made one up. In the Prize books, he pretty much made his own style and stuck to it. Here he adopts a mock Caniff style. He did his best and most personal work for the covers.
