Bastian worked for the SF Chronicle at this time. He was an exceptionally good, I believe under acknowledged, editorial cartoonist. Before the Chronicle he worked for Jay Ward on the Crusader Rabbit cartoon TV show.
I was never aware of any work beyond editorial cartoons by Bastian during his time at the Chronicle (especially comic strip work like 'Quiet Urp").
Yes, that wa sit. These came from the Chronicle. One of the papers that is available to me from genealogy.com (and not from any other newspaper site). There is more, he did a lot of cartoons for the advertisement section, as well as magazine covers.
