Saturday Leftover Day.
I recently scanned and cleaned a couple more newspaper comic strips ads. The first four are by Gunnar Peterson, who also did the Colgate ads. The last two are by Lou Fine, one of which I have already shown in my larger Sam Spade post years ago and anopther which I will add there.
Lovely work. Hard to distinguish between the work of Gunnar from Fine's for me. Especially the way they both draw women's face similarly.
ReplyDeleteThat's why for a long time I labelled them as Fine. But the time frame was wrong, Fine left to work on his own in the late forties. And when I clocked the fact that Peterson (whom I only knew as a full color illustrator also did line art, I could look at his work with new eyes and made the connection over many years).
