And Now...

 Saturday Leftovers

Here is a small but interesting oddity. The late forties and early fifties Alley Oop is best know for it's well turned out daily stories. The Sundays of the thirties were glorious, of course and those days were long behind. But here is a short Sunday storyline that will interest the comic fans. It has the creator of the strip interupting the characters for a 'word from our sponsor'. I came across a couple of these, one of which I had inadvertently scanned the wrong way. Fortunately I managed to find the whole run on my favorite microfiche newspaper site.

Right Up Your Oop

Thursday Story Strip Day.

Every once in a while I come across a paper that runs full weeks of a strip once a week instead of a daily a day. This gives you a chance to read a nice chunck of Alley Oop from 1953, just in time for the renewed attention the strip is getting from IDW.
