Gun of a Son

Sunday Meskin Measures.

Today have the last of the four Vigilante sories Mort Mesking created for DC's WEstern Comcis. He was at the top ofhis game hee, combining his early sense of splash pages with the influence Jerry Robinson must have had on his work (getting him to deliver more detailed and less quickly drawn material, as far as I can see).

The Mighty Oak

Friday Comic Book Day.

As you know, I am a sucker for a request. Last week Patrick Dilley asked for The Wyoming Kid by Howard Sherman. This was in fact the titular hero of DC's Wesern Comics, although I prefer those eary issues for the work of Mort Meskin and Howard Post (both of which I have shown here). He was a loyal DC artist, starting with them in 1940 and finally leaving in 1963. He mostly did western stories and as he has siad himself wasn't very good at imitating other peoples styles.
