Back To Black

Sunday Quick Fix

More Johnny Quick, with Mort Meskin cosing in on the style he would use for The Black Terror and The Fighting Yank, proving he didn't need Jerry Robinson to create beautifull and multi-layered work. Just as Jerry Robinson proved at Timely that he didn't need Mort Meskin to create compelling compositions and great characters. Which probably explains why their collaborative work was so fantastic. This month Steven Brower's Mort Meskin Book, From Shadow To Light, is advertised in the Diamond Preview Catalogue. I don't know if there is going to be a softvover version, I urge everyone to try this book out. It's written with the help of Mort Meskin's son Peter and Philip, who are also responsible for one of the best comic creator websites ever, about their father at www.mortmeskin.com. Steven also runs the Mort Meskin Yahoo Group. Apart from the fact that Meskin is a great and underrated artist, his life makes for fascinating reading as well and I for one am looking forward to this book immensely.
