In Theatres Soon
Saturday Leftover Day.
This week I shared a lot of ultra slick advertising ads, most probably all by Lou Fine. The first of those were a set of film ads from 1947 and 1948 which I had all shown before. I think these comic strip film ads are remarkable and always hope to find more. This week I got a new lot of comic strip ads (including a lot of early Philip Morris ads, which I will probably put up next wednesday) one of which was a full page tabloid mmovie ad for the Ingrid Bergman picture Joan of Arc. This ad (probably by Lou Fine as well) is different from the others, but the 1948 tme frame makes it fit. It is the most famous of all films using such an ad (most of the others were RKO genre pictures) and I think it is gorgeous.
