For a change of pace, here are some of George McManus' early 'daily' samples of The Newlyweds and Their Baby, the forerunner of Bringing Uo Father that later became a topper. I say 'daily' because I am not entirely sure of the frequency of their appearance.

According to Wikipedia article, this strip ran as titled from 1904 - 1912. It then was retitled "Their Only Child." Even with out your opening remark on this strip, I would have recognized it as McManus' work...I think.
