Sogood

Saturday Leftover Day.

Last week I showed the illustrated column Dear Dollink, Milt Gross did for the King Feature Sunday magazine Pictorial Review in 1944 and 1945. This week I am following up with the similar feature That's Washington written by George Dixon and illustrated by Otto Soglow (of The Little King fame). It shows the range of Soglow's talent, who to my eyes sort of settle into a rut from the fifties onward. Here his work is more animated and reminds me of Cuban artist Anton Prohias (who later did Spy vs Spy for Mad). Again, if anyone has a complete set of these magazines and wants to share scans with me, please get in touch. Like the Gorss stuff, these pages are amazing and wait untill you see what I have next week.
