Sunday Meskin Day.
I don't know who inked this late Meskin story from Headline #71. It could be Meskin himself, but it seems to light for him even be trying. This looks more like Vic Donahue (although I know of no instances of him inking other's work). Meskin's normal simple faces seem to have been improved with haywork, trying to cerate some sort of depth.

Crime Pays The Bills
Sunday Meskin Measures.
In Headline #66 Mort Meskin was still in storyboard mode, telling his stories quick and easy. Sometimes it even seems he just drew them in ink. But underlying it all is a great sense of realistic figures and expressions couple with a superb feeling for composition. Three stories this time, which I all have noted as not yet shared, but the first two seem familiar to me.

The Times A Master
Sunday Meskin Measures.
Three very different stories by Mort Meskin in Headline #65. They are all in what one of my regulars called his 'storyboard' style, but the finishing is slightly different every time. I think the first one is the most accomplished, with a few great action panels. The second one would have benefited greatly from someone like Jerry Robinson inking and embellishing it. The third one is more blocky, although I like the second panel in the fight scene on the last page.

Atmospheric Crime
Sunday Meskin Measures.
With Headline #49, we are still in Mort Meskin's golden period, as far as I am concerned. John Vadebonceur Jr. suggests that George Roussos helped him out with the inking on these stories, but there is enough of the linework (similar to the linework we could see in the work he did with Jerry Robinson) to carry the weight of Roussos' sometimes overpowering blacks.
