Last Ditch Hitch

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

I thought I had shared more of my scans of Half-Hitch, the seventies strip set up by Hank Ketcham (based on his forties gag panel in The Saturday Evening Post) and executed expertly by Dick Hodgins Jr. Hodgins later went on to work or Dik Browne of Hagar and it shows. I have added my 'new' scans to the old ones creating almost a full half year of Sundays.

Got Buck Rogers on your Mind?
Dick Hodgins Jr., not Dick Calkins.

I have this labeling system, that allows me to perpetuate my mistakes. Thanks for the catch.

And it wasn't Buck Rogers that made Calkins appear in my links, but his advertising work of something called The Muffets. Go check it out.

Checked out your Muffets post - I liked it.
I don't know why, Calkins is certainly not
one of the Masters of Comic Art, but ever
since I got that Chelsea House collection
of Buck Rogers I have enjoyed Calkins work.
There is just something primal about his style
that I find, uh, attractive(?).
