Jack Cole Week

Wednesday Advertising Day.

Since I have no samples of advertisement art by Jack Cole (which he probably didn't do), I am using today to show you some of his funny one pagers done for Quality in the early forties. When he was doing Plastic Man (and his other series) he liked to start his day (or week) by drawing a simple funny one pager. He had several series such as this, which were used in the Quality titles as fioller or as a way to mix things up. He did Wun Cloo for Smash comics and probably another series for Crack Comics as well. For National he made Windy Breeze. All of these strip were don eunder the pseudonym Ralph Johns, which was the name of his brother-in-law or something like that. Here are a couple of samples of Windy Breeze, from National #44, 46, 48, 50, 52, 53, 54, 56, 58 and 59.
