As long as I am doing Mort Meskin work, here are wo more short stories from roughly the same period (only six months earlier). After Black Magic folded, he did several short filler horror stories for Prize's Frankenstein. This is the sort of work he was doing just before joining DC and in my opinion it is about the best work he did in this decade. These two are from Frankenstein #29, but he also worked on other issues. The first of these two stories is a lot more restained, but the facial acting in both is terrific.

Interesting stylistic differences within the same book, appropriate to each genre. Also note the unusual approach to the first splash, with the main action taking place in the background, a technique Mort used several times during this period.
