Virtual Virgil

Wednesday Advertising Day.

Virgil Partch (VIP) was also very popular with advertising agencies. Usuing cartoons for ads was as common in the forties and fifties as using celebrities was in the seventies. It was also a way to show how 'modern' your product was. Here are some samples.

I remember reading his cartoons as a kid--both strip and single--and finding them hilarious. I always did have a kind of whack sense of humor though!

OT- Just wanted to stop by and thank you for the terrific articles in the latest issue of Roy Thomas' "Alter Ego"(No. 86). Loved reading "What Hath Kurtzman Wrought?" and "Lost Kurtzman: The War Years!".
Can't wait for the second installment"

Tanks, Vince. I am happy it is out. I wrote the first draft four years ago, rewrote it recently and worked hard with Roy to get all the illustrations righ.

And to get the typos out... for some reason the check spelling function on my blog here stopped working, so I have to go over everything twice and still will miss something.
