Free Agent
Sunday Meskin Measures.
Another great Vigilante stry by Meskin. The Vigilante figure in the splash seems to have been the basis for the sketch used for the cover of Alter Ego #24, the Mort Meskin issue.
This seems as a good a plae as any to refer you to one of Harry mendrick's excellent articles on Mort Meskin (and the Vigilante) at: http://www.google.nl/imgres?imgurl=http://kirbymuseum.org/blogs/simonandkirby/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/action46.jpg&imgrefurl=http://kirbymuseum.org/blogs/simonandkirby/archives/category/z-archive/200903&usg=__MOb-3h9id1Uez6haYjtZruvdp2w=&h=650&w=476&sz=125&hl=nl&start=2&sig2=ur_RODzNCQcY2B5WIYVD8w&itbs=1&tbnid=oY2hQ5pmikgR4M:&tbnh=137&tbnw=100&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dalter%2Bego%2Bcover%2Bmort%2Bmeskin%26hl%3Dnl%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=UVFATImnCYf64AbMs8mvDw. You may have to join the Kirby Museum to be able to read this, but let me assure you Harry's weekly posts about Jack Kirby and Joe Simon alone are worth the trouble.

Thanks as ever for posting Meskin. He's one of the best, in my opinion. His figure work and black spotting is wonderful to behold.
It's rather odd that Meskin drew the handset cord on two of the panels of the eighth page as connected to the receiving end, rather than the transmitting end. I've never seen a desk-set with such a configuration, and the final panel has the cord more conventionally connected. (The desk-set looks like a Stromberg-Carlson “fat-boy” 1212.)
I have a strong suspicion that Jerry Robinson inked this story.
