Men With Microscopes

Jack Kirby Special #16.

So what do you prefer reading every day? These DC stories or the pre-hero monster stories that came after them? The art on these ones is more polished, but some people may find that of the Marvel books more expressive. And the writing? Do you like the tightly plotted DC stories or the more free-wheeling Marvel ones?

Keep posting the dc stories. I'm guessing these have never been reprinted since I've never seen them. They follow the same formula as the marvel monster of the month but with a quasi-scientific sheen, less melodrama and duller looking monsters- basically the dc house style. I love any pre-marvel Kirby work just for the sheer novelty of it and to see how his style evolved (any harvey or mainline/prize stories would make a nice sequel to this series!) But I still prefer the marvel style of more drama and imaginative creatures.

Yeah, in the Marvel monster books, the monsters often had he best developed characters.
