Come Fly With Me
Thursday Story Strip Day.
My love for the work Milt Caniff imitator and sometime assistant Ray Bailey is wl documented here. Now there's an artists whose work I'd love to see collected (preverably complete and in color where necessary). His second strip, Bruce Gentry, was started just after the war (when Milt Canff was still doing Terry and the Pirates, while prepaering his luanch of the similar Steven Canyon in 1946. Bailey did no longer owrk as Caniff's assistant then but he did use Caniff letterer for Gentry. There copies are from Google News Archive Search. Sometimes they are better then the NewsaperArchive scans I have, sometimes worse. But they do have to advantage of being complete and right from the first daily and Sunday...

Thanks for posting - Which newspaper ran these? The "DailyDose" yahoo group just started posting Bruce Gentry strips starting with July 16 1945.
Sounds like a group I should join. I guess they have their scans from NewspaperArchive. I have a run from July 16 as well (with an announcement on the 13th) and for a long time I thought it was the earliest ones. These are from Google News Archive. The paper name is in the announcement - the Philadelphia Record. Maybe one day I will go up to July 15.
