No Peanuts

Saturday Leftover Day.

Brad Anderson is best know for his panel cartoon and Sunday strip Marmaduke. Like many artists of his generation, he started out as a magazine cartoonists. And like many he also had other strips, before he hit it big. Here is one he did while he was already doing Marmaduke in magazines. It seems to have been a very short running weekly strip.

This strip was distributed by Al Smith Features, which provided comics for small town weeklies (similar to H.T. Elmo's Lincoln Features). Other comics they offered included Smith's own "Rural Delivery," and Warren Sattler's "Grubby."

Ah... But why only six? Maybe he sold a failed proposal set?

This is great! I'd never heard of it before. I love Anderson's early art - it just jumps off of the page.
