Tuesday Comic Strip Day.
As a fan of Virgil Partch's ork I have shown many samples of his comic strip Big George. Although it was not as weird and absurd as his cartoons, it did have his loudmouthed (and often funny) male viewpoints and a love of boating. So when I got togethr a new selection of Sunday strips I was surprised to see how soon after it's launch the strip lost it's edge. I always associated the 'weaker' gags with the strips Partch drew in the seventies, but it seems the biggest drop in quality happened in the mid sixties. If he wasn't the funniest cartoonist around before that drop, they might even not have been worth sharing. Fortunately 'lesser' Partch is still a lot better than most of his contemporaries.
