Eye PLeasing

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Last week I showed two samples of Ralph Stein's advertising work. I thought I had already shared the last months of his run as the artist/finisher of the late fifties Popeye strip over the script/pencils of Bela Zaboli, but I could find them anywhere. And this time they are in the right order (which the run of Bud Sagendorf's Popeye following this for some reason didn't).

Thanks a lot for printing the last Popeye story Ralph Stein and Bela Zaboly drew before Sagendorf took over in 1959.Ironicly, 1959 was the year I read my first Popeye comic books, which were done by Sagendorf.

Thanks so much for printing this lengthy sequence. As much as I appreciate Segar and Sagendorf, the Zaboly/Stein stuff is so rarely seen. This was a great sequence. I especially liked his rendering of Pappy.
