Buy This Paper Or We Shoot The Cop

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Charles Rodrigues is one of the most unique cartoonists of his generation. I got to know him in Cracked, where he did the Cracked Shut-Ups for many years. after that he appeared in the National Lampoon with an autobiographical strip as well as many other highly satirical pieces. His humor was sharp and biting and enjoyed a complete lack of sentimentality. His dark humor would certainly have enountered problems these days, but this was the seventies - when everything was challanged. His off-beat style finally made it into the newspapers with Casey the Cop, which ran in the late seventies. It may not have been his best or funniest work, but he sure was different than a lot of the others.
