The Little General

Sunday Something Else Day.

Rob Stolzer commented on my previous post of Harry Haenigsen early daily satirical series News and Views how much some of the panels reminded him of the work of Gluyas Williams and wondered if Haenigsen was inspired or infliuenced by him. On the subject of precursors, here is a daily gag strip by an artist called Arnot that ran for a very short time in 1920 and seems to have influenced another later evry popular series. Of course, The Stripper's Guide has an entrance devoted to it (http://strippersguide.blogspot.com/2006/07/general-part-i.html) and that is where I learned it ran from 1919 to 1922.
