What a difference a couple of months make

Tuesday newpaper strip day.

For the fans, here are the first couple of weeks from the Hi and Lois Daily strip, starting Oct. 17 1954. They are from micr-fiche. For better copies we'll all have to wait until a complete collection is made. Included is the first announcement strip, where the paper could ad it's own name to the last panel.

Hi and Lois were actually introduced six months earlier by Mort Walker himself, when Beetle Bailey was on furlough with his parents an met his sis and stepbrother. Apparently in the half year between this and the launch of her own strip, Lois got a dye-job and a husbandectomy.

Notice that the "I hate shopping" daily is drawn by Walker! Isn't it?
