Are You Happy To See M Or Is That Just A Piece Of Wood In Your Pocket?

Wednesday Advertising Strip Day.

Here are some more Chase and Sanborn Charlie McCarthy ads from the mid-fifties, which in some biographies are credited to Lou Fine. I just don't see it, although they are pretty.

I'm no expert but isn't it clear from the Adam Ames strip that Fine could make a radical shift in his style -- so why couldn't this be his work? I mean, if the record says it is and nothing contradicts it, why the disagreement? Because it doesn't look like Black Condor or The Ray? Again, in view of AA and other work, that's no reason.

In fact, after he slicked up doing The Spirit I find Lou Fine very consistent in style. And he is not 'on recor' as doing this, it is just one of those oft repeated comic history 'facts', which I have come to distrust.
