The Kings of Bad Gags
Saturday Leftover Day.
For the last year I have been writing a gag strip for the Dutch comic biweekly Eppo. It is called The Bandini's and it's drawn by cartoonist Pieter Hogenbirk. The gimmick of the strip is, that it's about two vaudeville type comedians doing sketches and each week we see them dressed up in another outfit doing their tired old crosstalks. I love writing these old sketches and try to make them as insufferable as possible. But every once in a while I can't help myself and try to do a silent gag. There have been a couple more, but here are some of them.
What I can't show, since it is in Dutch, is the extra's we do on the other side of the page. On the back of each gag are two one tier jokes, one showing the two comedians insulting each other and generaly being miserable behind their dressing room mirror and the other one shows them dressed as women in an excerpt of their black and white television show back when they were popular. The third gag here is another attemot to show them outside of their regular area.
Lastly, there is a spread we did with the Bandini's oing their version of Abbott and Costello's Who's on First. We hope to do more classic sketches later on. Any suggestions for sketches you would like to see are welcome.
