Gag-a-day-or-so

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Short Ribs was not a bad strip, but it was never as funny as it should be. Different situation, fun characters, nothing to hold you back. But the gags themselves were always a bit lame and the drawings style, while funny, never exelled.

Short Ribs was part of the NEA package that ran in plenty of small town dailies. In the 70s, O'Neal was replaced by former Hank Ketcham assistant Frank Hill.
The rotation of characters and settings was perhaps one reason Short Ribs never hit it big. It featured the Romans one day, the medieval Wizard-of-Id-style characters the next day, the Russians the next, then the Indians, then the Martians in their "Bruks Bros." spaceship, etc.
