Friday Comic Book Day.
I don't know if anyone has ever done a month by month tally of the production of Dan DeCarlo in the fifties, but the amount of work he did must be enormous. Not only did he do several monthly series with Stan Lee, but he also did a series of army based short stories for G.I. Joe called the Yardbirds as well as a science fiction series called Jetta (which has been reprinted in a beautiful reprint book edited by Craig Yoe). He also had short stories in Standard's Joe Yank. Like The Yardbirds, the basic situation was similar to Beetle Bailey, which had started just a few years before that. And like the Yardbirs, I suspect that the inking or finishing was done by Rudy LePick.
