Friday Comic Book Day.
Bernard Baily had the habit of always giving at least one character in his stories a checkered shirt. I don;t know when this started, but if John Vandebonbcoeur is right (and he usually is) and this story form 1950 is by him, it is one of the earliest ones samples I have ever seen.
