Sqeeuzing A Bit More Out Of The Bottle.

Sunday Leftover Day.

My thursday post on unknown artist Val Heinz has gotten some comments, which lead me to looking into it a bit more. I am sharing some of the dailies I have, even though the quality is not the best and I have a little surprise at the end. Note that the daily story lines are indeed continuous (even though I have only a limited amount of samples).

Also, when I first showed some of these in 2009 a visitor called Lanebrain contacted me and told me he had five originals. He sent me the scans (which inclluded the back of one of them), which I had misfiled until today... thanks, Lanebrain!

More stuff to admire and study Ger, thank you! My only 'compliant' would be to see them larger! *L* Keep up the great work, it is most appreciated!!

In ten years of collecting I have never seen any f these offered. The Sundays I got in sections that were tucked inside copies of the Sunday Pictorial Review. These were tabloid Sundays with Teena, Texas Slim, Popeye... Dawn o'Day was placed sideways in the middle spread. I have put one of the Sundays on Facebook in the hope that will generate some interest. Maybe someone can find out more about this mysterious Val Heinz.

There is a Val Heinz who was born in 1927, died in 1983 and lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan. That fits in with the theory that he was based around Chicago. But nothing about this Heinz' profession.

Alan Holtz quotes an E&P article that says Heinz was 23 in 1950 - fits in nicely with the 1927 birth date, but that would probably be too much of a lucky strike.

I just discovered that you posted the Dawn O'Day strips I shared. Glad to learn that you had. That only took me a little over a year and six months. (Craig J. Lane)

I have just bought a huge run of early Dawn o'Das, showing the evolving of Heinz' style. Will share some soon.
