Even though Mort Walker is supposed to have started selling cartoons in 1948, I have found very few from that year (even the cartoons he made for his university magazine and resold to Varsity don't appear until 1949) and very few for 1949. So these two cartoons from American Legion are pretty rare examples of his early work.
