The Great Miscommunicator

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

In 1984 Mad artist Mort Drucker started a short lived newspaper strip about Benchley, who supposedly was Ronald Reagan's assistant. Although the political caricatures were up to his normal standard, maybe the premiss was a bt to the nose to be really funny. Around the same time Gary Trudeau was proving that not aiming directly at the target probably was a better way to get your political commentary in. Or maybe it was the fact, that Trudeau actually had a political point of view (however much it got him in to trouble). So Benchley was eh.. benched afer a couple of months and neer collected. Just the sort of thing this blog seems to be perfect for.
