I'll Be Mum

Monday Cartoon Day.

Regular followers of this blog know of my love for Irving Philips' sixties silent strip Mr. Mum. It appeared daily as a cartoon and every Sunday as a gorgously colored collection of gags. In the daily cartoons the titular character Mr. Mum was usually looking surprised at some sort of odd and often absurd visual situation. In the Sundays five or six of those situations were stringed togetehr by having Mr. Mum walk through a landscape of oddities. It was only later that the Sunday converted to a more conventional set-up, with an end gag and less fun along the way.

As usual there is more if you follow the label.

The white knight gag is a reference to an old Ajax ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4trEWzghZM

The larger scans are raw 400 dpi scans, uncleaned for those who want to use it for publising (and credit me in their book or magazine for it). I you are 'just' a reader, you are very welcome and I am glad to have you here, but I think the smaller scans on my blog are good to read and even enlarge.
