Wednesday Advertising Day.
In 1953, not long before he was snatched away from advertising company Johnstone and Cushing to draw Hi and Lois, Dik Browne did a series of remarkable one panel ads for Camels. For a long time I thought they may have been produced in collaboration with Gill Fox, but the timing and the execution make me thing otherwise now. The style is light and breezy and it would take Dik Browne a long time on Hi and Lois to come back to this level (before even surpassing it it with ease).
