Monday Cartoon Day.
Irving Philips is best know for his silent gag strip Mr. Mum, which ran from the late fifties til the early seventies as a daily panel and Sunday strip. Before that Philips worked as a cartoonist, but before that he had another strip that was much less fanciful. It ran in selected papers in the early fifties, usually as a square of four panels. Apparently there was a cartoon version as well, whichmakes me think it started life as a regular cartoon series for on eof the weekly's (or a proposal for one). I have shown some of these before, but the (original) cartoon is a new find.
