Friday Comic Book Day.
A short presentation for this Friday. In the Parent's Magazine producedmid forties comic Funny Book I came across this very Mad-like newspaper parody with a fairy tale twist. It shows that irreverence is of all ages and smart creators will find new forms anytime. Who created this beauty is unknown.

Wonders in Aliceland
Friday Comic Book Day.
On February 2 2012 I shared a complete run in black and white of Chad Grothkopf's version of the Alice in Wonderland story, as part of his famous literature Sunday only series from the early fifties. Around the same time the same stories appeared in Parent Magazine's comic book Funny Book #1. I don;t know which version came first. I know it is not the first time Parents had a story do double duty in the newspapers and the comic books, they did something similar with True. Anyway, it shows what a tremendous artist Grothkopf was, even (or maybe specificly) at this early point in his career.
