The High Kotzky Of Living

So, a couple of years after doing the 'Duke" Handy ads, Kortzky finally got his own newspaper strip, Apartment 3G. I have to admit I never much looked at this strip, because it's just a bit to feminine to my taset. But this short daily un of 1966 shows what a master Kotzky was at staging and telling his story. I was actually going to add a whole run of Sundays here, but my office in the attic is so hot, I had to quit cleaning up my sans for fear of melting. But I will do them next week, or maybe even prepare enough for a nice holiday run...

Thanks for these! When I was a kid, my grandfather in New York would send us the weekly 'funnies' to Minnesota once a week from the NY papers, and 3G was in that batch, but we thought it was a 'girls' comic, so didn't read it either! I think even back then I could tell it had quality artwork! (Wish we'd kept some of those papers!)

It's still around, though Frank Bolle is now the artist and it's pretty much a shade of its former self, and frequent fodder for the Comics Curmudgeon.

These are amazing. I'd love to see what the underdrawings for these looked like... they're certainly "photorealistic" but there's an amazing economy... there's absolutely nothing there that doesn't need to be there.
