Thursday Story Strip Day.
I always thought the secret of Calvin and Hobbes was how it combined folosophy with slapstick. The late fifties strip David Crane did a similar thing. It combined soap (in the dailies) and sermons (in the, what else, Sundays). When Craig Flessel took over from Winslow Mortimer, he pretty quickly scrpped the sermons and substituted often silent gags featuring... slapstick.
